“My MS Diagnosis” Events by the Greek Union for the Treatment of MS in Western Hellas

As part of the celebration of World Multiple Sclerosis Day 2025, the Greek Union for the Treatment of MS in Western Hellas (EEASKP) organized a series of events under the theme “Navigating MS Together”, promoting timely and accurate diagnosis for all individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis.

On Friday, May 30, 2025, World MS Day, members, friends, and volunteers of EEASKP, along with representatives from other organizations, gathered at Georgiou Square in Patras, in front of the Apollon Municipal Theatre, which was illuminated in the colors of MS awareness, with the support of the Municipality of Patras.

On Sunday, June 15, EEASKP hosted a Hybrid Scientific Event at the “Delfini” Hotel in Patras titled “World MS Day 2025“. The event was livestreamed via the organization’s social media channels on YouTube and Facebook. The speakers included:

  • •Margarita Karagiorgou, President of EEASKP – EEASKP and the Celebration of World MS Day
  • •Panagiotis Karanasios, Neurologist, Director of the National Health System, Head of the Demyelinating Diseases Clinic, Neurology Department, General Hospital of Patras “Agios Andreas” – Modern Therapeutic Approaches in MS
  • Konstantinos Giannitsas, Urologist-Andrologist, Associate Professor of Urology – Functional Urology, University of Patras, Director of the Rehabilitation Clinic, University General Hospital of Patras “Panagia i Voitheia” – Urinary Issues in MS
  • •Christina Ravazoula, Nurse – Visible and Invisible Symptoms in MS: Nursing Interventions

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests and supporters of EEASKP, including:

  • •Mr. Georgios Moros, President of the Achaia-Ilia Regional Branch of the Panhellenic Association of Physiotherapists
  • •Ms. Machi Salamaliki, President of ELEANA Patras
  • •Mr. Konstantinos Togias, Representative of the Regional Organization of the Democracy Movement
  • •Ms. Eleni Birli, Representative of the Coordinating Committee for Persons with Disabilities of Achaia
  • •Mr. Vasilis Markou, President of the NGO “Erifyli”

The events were held under the auspices of the Region of Western Greece, the Panhellenic Federation of Persons with Disabilities of Western Greece and the Southern Ionian Islands (POMAMEA), and with the support of the Municipality of Patras.

The Informational Conference was made possible through the generous sponsorship of ROCHE, Bristol Myers Squibb, Coloplast, and the Region of Western Greece.

☕ During the event, coffee and sweet treats were offered, and the evening concluded with a light dinner accompanied by wine and refreshments, enriched by live music and singing by Panagiotis Tsalidis.

World MS Day 2025 served as an opportunity to:

  • •Highlight global and national barriers to MS diagnosis.
  • •Build informed and supportive communities and systems for those diagnosed.
  • •Raise awareness and foster solidarity through shared diagnosis experiences.
  • •Promote better education and training for healthcare professionals.
  • •Support new research and clinical advancements in MS diagnosis.
